I attended Dev sir's physics classes regularly from the beginning. At first it was a bit hard to adjust myself to sir's method, because it's not the commercial method used in most of the classes nowadays to make students and parents happy. Because A/Ls isn't an exam students can get good results just by blindly copying down sums solved by the teacher on the board, Dev sir trained us to do sums by ourselves, right from the beginning. It was a really big relief he had covered all the important lessons of the syllabus by December, so I had more time to allocate to time consuming work like Biology, while most of my friends who went to other classes were struggling in completing the syllabus. Above all, the main reason I could trust sir was because he is an open kind hearted teacher with a wonderful personality, a person whom you can go to anytime of the day with any stupid question coming across your mind. Sometimes we've spent hours before or after the class to clear our doubts, and sir was really cool about all that and would explain everything till we got it A to Z. I feel blessed to have such an amazing teacher in my life. ****************************************************************************************************************************** මිතිල ප්රේමතිලක - නාලන්දා විද්යාලය ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ වෛද්ය පීඨය මම ආරම්භයේ සිටම ආචාර් ය දේවප්රිය මහතාගේ භෞතික විද්යාව පන්තිවලට නිතිපතා සහභාගී වුණා. මුලදී ඔහුගේ ඉගැන්වීම් ක්රමයට හුරු වීම මට තරමක් අපහසු වුණා, මොකද එය වර්තමානයේ බොහෝ පන්තිවල ශිෂ්යයන් සහ දෙමාපියන් සතුටු කිරීම සඳහා භාවිතා කරන වාණිජමය ක්රමයක් නොවූ නිසා. ගුරුවරයා කළු ලෑල්ලේ හදන ගණන් අන්ධ ලෙස කොපි කිරීමෙන් පමණක් උසස් පෙළ විභාගයෙන් හොඳ ප්රතිඵල ලබාගත නොහැකි නිසා, මුල සිටම තනිවම ගණන් විසඳීමට දේව් සර් අපව පුහුණු කළා. දෙසැම්බර් මාසය වන විට විෂය නිර්දේශයේ සියලුම වැදගත් කොටස් අවසන් කර තිබීම මට ලොකු සහනයක් වුණා. අනෙකුත් පන්ති ගිය මගේ මිතුරන් බොහොමයක් විෂය නිර්දේශය අවසන් කරගැනීමට වෙහෙසෙද්දී, ජීව විද්යාව වැනි වැඩි කාලයක් අවශ්ය විෂයයන් සඳහා වැඩි ඉඩක් වෙන් කිරීමට මට ඒ නිසා අවස්ථාව ලැබුණා. සියල්ලටම වඩා, මට සර්ව විශ්වාස කිරීමට හැකි වූ ප්රධානම හේතුව ඔහු ඉතා විවෘත, කාරුණික සහ අපූරු පෞරුෂයකින් හෙබි ගුරුවරයෙකු වීමයි. දවසේ ඕනෑම වෙලාවක අපේ හිතට එන ඕනෑම මෝඩ ප්රශ්නයක් වුණත් අහන්න පුළුවන් ගුරුවරයෙක් ඔහු. සමහර වෙලාවට අපි අපේ සැකයන් දුරු කරගැනීමට පන්තියට පෙර හෝ පන්තියෙන් පසුව පැය ගණනාවක් ගත කළ අතර, ඒ හැම වෙලාවකම සර් ඒ ගැන ඉතා හොඳින් සොයා බලා අපට මුල සිට අගටම සියල්ල වැටහෙන තුරු පැහැදිලි කර දුන්නා. මෙවැනි විශිෂ්ට ගුරුවරයෙකු මගේ ජීවිතයට ලැබීම මම ලොකු වාසනාවක් ලෙස සලකනවා.
